Ruth 4:13–15 (NIV): “13 So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. When he made love to her, the Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son. 14 The women said to Naomi: ‘Praise be to the Lord, who this day has not left you without a guardian-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel! 15 He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth.’”
How Does God Replace Emptiness with Abundance?
God is the ultimate redeemer. He took Naomi’s emptiness and bitterness (Ruth 1:20-21) and replaced it with abundance and blessing - through Ruth and Boaz and their son Obed. Ruth marries Boaz, her guardian-redeemer, which completes the plan God had been orchestrating. The phrase “the Lord enabled her to conceive” shows that God is the source of life and blessing, and He always has the final say.
Obed is not just an ordinary son, he’s part of the ancestral line of King David and ultimately Jesus Christ. This shows God’s abundant redemption is not only for Ruth and Naomi, but for all generations, even us!
Now Let’s Pray
Dear Heavenly Father thank You for immediate provision and long-term abundance. Remind us that You are the source of all life, blessings, and outcomes. We trust that You will answer our prayers in the best way that aligns with Your will, even if we don’t understand.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
