A Thousand Years Are Like a Day

2 Peter 3:8-9 (NIV): 8 But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9 The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
How Can I Come To Repentance?
God operates outside the realm of human time, what may feel like a delay to us isn’t a delay to Him. Your waiting season may be someone else’s season of grace - God is never rushed or panicked, and His timing is always perfect.
God always keeps His promises, but He will not rush a promise if it will cause one or more parties to “perish”. God will prolong your blessings, for your own good, if you have yet to “come to repentance”. Repentance is a deep, inner turning away from sin and self and a turning toward God in humility, faith, and obedience. God will always accept you with open arms when you confess your sins and run back to Him, and with that repentance He is able to propel your life into the next season of blessings and promises.
Now Let’s Pray
Dear Heavenly Father thank You for always welcoming us back home when we turn away from You. Remind us that repentance closes the gap between us that sin creates, and we must repent for our sins and turn back to You in humility. Teach us to walk with You in obedience and surrender, and that no sin is worth breaking Your heart.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
