Matthew 5:10-12 (NIV): “10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.”
How Can We Show Righteousness For The Kingdom of God?
Righteousness refers to standing in truth, justice, and holiness, and living by God’s Word. Being “blessed” does not lead to worldly comfort and approval. Instead, you are aligning your will and walk with God… even when it costs you. When we stay faithful under pressure, not only does our faith grow, but we are promised the kingdom of heaven and prosperity alongside Jesus.
Keep in mind, being misunderstood, rejected, or even persecuted for following Jesus isn't unique to our time. It’s something Jesus prepared His followers for from the start, and is consistent through every generation.
Now Let's Pray
Dear Heavenly Father thank You for the power of Your love that encourages us to pursue righteousness. We rebuke any attempts from the enemy to dilute our faith through persecution. Give us the strength to pray for our enemies and those who are far from you. Use us to shine Your light on their darkness.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
