Galatians 6:14 (NIV): “May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.”

What Is My Identity in Christ?

It’s common for the flesh to fall to pride in many areas: achievement, status, image, others’ opinions of you, etc. We all struggle with rooting our self-worth and confidence in these worldly measures. Galatians 6:14 is a beautiful reminder to boast in the Lord. Boast in the sacrifice of Jesus - he lived a perfect life and took on all of humanity’s sins because he loved us so much. He paid the highest price for our lives. As believers, we can root our confidence not in OUR achievements, but in the sacrifice of Jesus and our new identities in Christ.

It is perfectly fine to celebrate our blessings, yet when we start to identify our worth with them, it can get dangerous. Continue to remind yourself that you walk in the authority of Christ!

Now Let's Pray

Dear Heavenly Father thank You for our new identities we have inherited through the cross. We rejoice in the blessing of authority and confidence that this identity gifts us, and for the grace and mercy we receive every morning. Remind us to rest and find comfort in You, not the fleeting pleasures of the world.

In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
