Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV): 28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

How Can I Accept God's Invitation of Rest and Comfort?

This verse reveals Jesus’ gentle and humble character at His core, not what He does but who He is. Jesus is giving the restless and the weary an open invitation to His love. He is not saying “fix yourself” or “do better” he is simply asking you to “come” into his presence. The rest that Jesus describes here refers to spiritual rest - rest from guilt, shame, and carrying the weight of your worries on your own. Jesus invites us to walk with Him, and let Him carry us through our difficult times. A sweet, warm, invitation back to His heart.

Now Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father thank You for welcoming us into Your heart and carrying the weight of our burdens. I pray that we accept Your invitation of closeness to find rest for our souls when we are weary. We love You for Your gentle and humble heart, please partner with us as we carry out the calling of discipleship.

In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
