Perfect Stage for Miracles

Joshua 3:15–16 (NIV): “15 Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge, 16 the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah (that is, the Dead Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho.”

What Is God's Divine Provision?

God moves when we step out in faith. The roaring waters of the Jordan only stopped once the priest’s feet touched the water, not a second before this act of faith. Notice how the ark goes before all the people crossing, this represents God’s leadership. He always goes before us and guides our way when we are called into new seasons.

The Jordan was impassable at flood stage. God often chooses the most difficult situations to show His power most clearly. He didn’t bring them to a trickling stream, He brought them to a roaring river so that His provision would be undeniable. God’s provision is abundant and thorough, for once the priest stepped out in faith all the people were able to follow suit.

Now Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father thank You for Your abundant provision and presence during times of uncertainty. Remind us daily that You are our provider of all things, and that every mountain is climbable with You by our side. Teach us to step out in radical faith as we pursue obedience and surrender.
