Ephesians 6:10-12 (NIV): “10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.”
How Can I Protect Myself During Spiritual Warfare?
The armor of God is our ultimate defense as Believers. We are constantly under attack from the enemy, and we are called to draw on the Lord’s strength as we engage in spiritual warfare. We must equip ourselves with the full armor of God, for partial preparation is not enough when the enemy will attack us from all angles with his clever schemes.
Verse 12 shows us that often times when someone does us wrong, we blame their human self when we should really be blaming the orchestrated, calculated schemes of the demons who are behind the curtain pulling the strings. The enemy is not just throwing rocks at your window, the Word says we are facing ”schemes” of deceit and distraction from “rulers, authorities, and powers” of the dark world. This is why we must pray for our enemies like Jesus tells us to, and rebuke the TRUE enemy out of their lives. A brother or sister in Christ who offends you is merely under the compulsion of darkness.
Ask yourself how the enemy may be tactfully attacking your life and relationships right now, are you FULLY suited in the armor of God? Is he in your blind spot?
Now Let's Pray
Dear Heavenly Father I pray that You fully equip us with the armor of God. Please bless us with Your divine strength and unlimited power to stand firm in the ultimate truth of Your Word. I pray a burning conviction into our heart’s to read Your Word daily, so we have the knowledge to rebuke the native language of lies from the enemy. Please encourage us to deeply pray for our enemies as we navigate spiritual warfare as the unified body of Christ
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
