Ephesians 6:13-15 (NIV): 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
How Can I Stand Firm During Spiritual Warfare?
During seasons of intense spiritual attack, we must be fully suited in the armor of God so that we can stand firm. The enemy looks to attack us from all angles.
The belt of truth: God’s truth is our foundation, it holds the entire suit of armor together (which it literally did in the traditional Roman armor). When the belt is loosened, the armor is loose and shame is revealed. The enemy loves shame.
The breastplate of righteousness: This covers our vital organs (heart and lungs). Without the breastplate, the enemy can make fatal blows to our faith. The enemy will attack our vulnerable hearts to invoke feelings of shame, guilt, and temptation.
The gospel of peace is the immense comfort believers find in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Through Him we are saved and our sins are wiped clean. This allows us to feel immense peace with God (through Jesus), with ourselves (through the deliverance from fear and anxiety) and peace with our brothers and sisters (through forgiveness). We must stand firmly planted in the Lord’s Word and sovereign authority, to be ready to preach the gospel.
Now Let's Pray
Dear Heavenly Father thank You for equipping us with the preparation to rebuke the enemy during intense spiritual warfare. I pray readiness into our hearts as we plant our feet into Your Word and fasten our full armor. Bless us with truth and righteousness in all seasons and remind us of the supernatural peace we receive through Jesus Christ.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
