Isaiah 53:5 (NIV): "But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed."
How Am I Made Whole Through Jesus?
Through the cross, we are healed. Jesus was “pierced” and suffered deep, violent, physical pain. He was intensely “crushed” both physically and emotionally, alluding to his spiritual suffering. He had always been in perfect communion with the Father, but for the first time in eternity, he experienced what it was like to be completely separated from God - Jesus became sin.
Our willful acts of rebellion and sin, along with our moral failures and misconduct, are the transgressions and iniquities that Jesus willingly assumed on the cross. This great exchange produced eternal peace between humanity and God, while Jesus took on the wrath of the almighty Father. These wounds healed us through spiritual restoration and undeserved forgiveness - we were made whole.
Now Let's Pray
Dear Heavenly Father thank You for the sacrifice of Your one and only son. We are undeserving of the renewed grace, mercy, and peace we receive from You every day through the cross. Please press gratitude into our hearts, not just for the blessings we receive, but for the pure presence of Jesus and His love that transcends through space and time. May we honor You every day through our words, choices, and interactions.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
