Malachi 3:3 (NIV): "He will sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; he will purify the Levites and refine them like gold and silver. Then the Lord will have men who will bring offerings in righteousness."

How Can We Appreciate Our Trials?

God is actively and patiently involved in the purification process. As silver is melted and refined, it is heated to such high temperatures that all impurities are drawn out to the surface and cleared away. God thoughtfully uses the “heat” of our trials and temptations to cleanse us of our impure lives - pride, selfishness, greed, and bitterness.

If heated too long, silver is destroyed, therefore, the silversmith will never leave the fire unattended. Purification is complete when the refiner can see their reflection in the silver. This is a repeated process, oftentimes the silver requires multiple rounds of purification.

Now Let’s Pray

Dear Heavenly Father thank You for thoughtfully guiding us through the purification of our lives through spiritual refinement and trials. Remind us that we are called to find joy in our trials. Your presence is comfort during the refinement process, we know You sit patiently as we are cleansed.

In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
